#2014 and harry and louis are in Doncaster on the 24th of December #it’s Louis’ birthday dinner with all his family and after the best food they’ve ever had #(or at least since Harry made eggs benedict that morning) #they all go into Louis’ Mum’s living room for the rest of the evening #only Louis calls for everyone’s attention and goes to stand at the front of the room #Harry in tow with a tooth over a coy smile #‘we’ve got news’ is all Louis says #and the room just looks on expectantly #except for once Louis doesn’t quite know what to say #the silence growing longer he just kind of says #‘uuummmmm well’ and harry smiles a little wider at louis’ sudden shyness #knocks him with his shoulder and gives him an encouraging smile #taking a deep breath Louis finally says what he’s been bubbling over all night #‘I proposed to Harry and- and he said yes.’

#okay but what if someone wrote an au fic where louis and harry have been dating all throughout high school #and they both get accepted into different colleges#louis getting accepted to some artsy school in new york #and harry getting accepted into a nice school in LA where he’ll major in sociology and business and law and whatever the fuck#and theyve been keeping touch through late night skype sessions where louis shows harry his art and stuff #(and sends him the ones he really likes) #and harry talks to louis about how many cool people hes met in LA #and then he asks louis about how new york is because louis never really talks too much about new york—just his school #and so louis gets an idea #and then the next day he goes out and makes zayn drive him all over new york so he could take pictures of his favorite places #and sometimes he’ll even take a picture of himself making a funny face just because #and he goes home and sends all the pictures hes taken to harry #and harry gets them and he does the same thing #going around LA and take pictures with strangers and adding cute captions like #’i dont even know this man’ #or #’i think shes terrified of me now. youre welcome.’ #and they keep going back and forth with the picture sharing; the pictures getting more and more stupid by the weeks #and they start taking pictures of their shoes and what theyre gonna wear that day and even some dog shit they found at the park #but then one day louis stops sending pictures #and at first harry thinks its just because there was nothing to take pictures of that day; or hes just been busy with school #but then it goes on for months until he finally gets an envelope in the mail #and its really thin; unlike the other ones that louis’ sent him #and harry opens it and finds that theres only 1 picture inside of it this time #and a letter #and the picture is of the sky and harry is really confused at first #so he decides maybe the letter would help explain #but when he opens the letter; theres nothing on it and its just a blank sheet of paper #and harry stands there all confused until he hears a voice behind him calling his name
